Dream destination: Fiji

Since before I can remember, the location I’ve dreamed of visiting is Fiji. Pristine beaches, snapshot-worthy sunsets, village huts - what else is wanting? Maybe I’ll make it happen, since I’m on this side of the world and all. Just need to start a Fijian piggy bank, asap.

How can you see these photos and not believe in God?

Told my mom today, I am stealing this idea of a photo family tree for my first apartment, wherever in the world that´s going to be…
Snapshots of my brother as a toddler toting a canary-yellow Cheerios box, my grandma and grandpa dropping me off at preschool, my cousins and I with our ridiculous 80s haircuts, the works.
I miss my family already.

The pinnacle and ultimate fulfillment of my mom’s dream trip to Greece - a photo of me riding a donkey up the Caldera. 300 steps later, I am the poster child for Bedhead, and the papu who led us up said steps kept saying, “Mammi, mammi!” because I apparently couldn’t stop yelling that.
Oh, Alexis Bledel, the things we do to be like you in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

Snapshot of 4 am view of the Caldera, taken on our balcony. Scintillating, no?

I asked Jimalyn to pick one of my mom’s photos to encapsulate Santorini. This was it.
Don’t worry, there will be more. Right now, it’s time to go to the beach and gorge on fresh fish.

LONDON TOWN

My first photoset from gallivanting around Europe! We landed in Heathrow midday, checked into our hotel in Gatswick and made the trip back into the city. I’d had extremely low expectations of London, as the last time I was here, British Airways completely screwed up the flight and I arrived exhausted, discombobulated, and hungry. And it was raining.

However, this time, the weather was literally perfect. (Imagine a British person saying “literally,” and it makes it 10 times better.)

Blue skies, no clouds, 70-some degrees. My mom, Jimalyn and her mom hopped off the Tube into a dreamlike setting, perfect architecture and stylish people abound. I was exhausted from the transatlantic flight, so after fish and chips and a pint (soo British), I passed out in front of the US Embassy in Grosvernor Square, which I found to be the English equivalent of Gramercy Park, aka where I want to live someday.

Later on, my mom and I walked around the Oxford Circus area, which had the best window displays I have ever seen - so eclectic yet unique. Couldn’t help admiring the meandering roads and the crowds. I’d almost forgotten what it feels like to be shoved forward by pedestrians, a feeling that I love.

Popped into an Indian restaurant called Imli that I found on Open Table, where the promise of a tasting menu of tapas did not disappoint. Best Indian food I’ve ever had, and probably will have, until I journey to India itself. Walked around a bit more to digest, then headed back to our hotel to nap before our 4 am wake up.

Even though the first day was a chaotic tour of the city, I’m excited to go back to end our journey in the city my mom first ventured to after high school. Can’t wait to see Cambridge, where she went to nursing school! So more on London later…

PS. Whilst I was typing this, the proprietor of our villa came outside looking skywards, then spotted me. “I could hear your typing and I thought it was raining.” HA!
